Kelfield's Jamie Inglis Loses His fight Against Cancer
5:53am 16th January 2013
Seven year old Kelfield boy Jamie Inglis has lost his fight against cancer.
Jamie's lungs became too damaged from the treatment against neuroblastoma for him to be able to survive.
He passed away yesterday afternoon in hospital in Germany, where he was being treated.
Jamie has fought a brave battle against his condition since 2009; his mum Vicky told us two years ago what the diagnosis did to her family.
After a year of fundraising the family went to America for treatment where Jamie fought against the illness.
Paediatric nurse Sarah Cottingham, speaking in 2010, describes the anxious wait while Jamie was treated.
Then that October came the news everyone had longed for.
But then in March last year it emerged the cancer had come back.
The community across North Yorkshire came together for a second time to help Jamie.
Jamie's mum and dad, Vicky and Jonathan, again had to call upon their determination and courage.
While fighting for their son, they also campaigned to raise awareness of neuroblastoma in the hope they could help other families.
The thoughts of all of us here at Minster FM are with the Inglis family as we remember what they call their "brave, happy boy".
