Officers have been making extensive enquiries in an effort to locate Mr Malarkey since his reported disappearance and are now asking the public for their assistance.

Mr Malarkey is described as white, around 6ft 2in tall, with a stocky build, green eyes and grey shaved hair. He has the letter ‘J’ tattooed on his right arm.

He is believed to be wearing dark blue denim jeans with a grey coat which has two pockets on the front.

Officers are growing concerned for Mr Malarkey’s welfare due to health issues and the length of time since he was last seen.

Inspector Dave Hall, of York police, said: “I am appealing for people in and around York to be alert and let us know if they see anyone matching the description of Mr Malarkey as soon as possible.

“His family and the police are obviously concerned for his safety and we need to establish where he is as quickly as we can.

“I am also appealing to Mr Malarkey himself to get in touch if he sees this appeal and let us and his family know that he is ok.”

If you can help officers to locate Jeremy Malarkey please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.
