Hambleton District Christmas Tree Collections
6:00am 6th January 2013
As Christmas trees are being taken down in the Hambleton District, people are being reminded to recycle theirs.
Collections of green bins are suspended over the winter, say Hambleton Diustrict Council but there is a special green collection on week commencing January 14 - Christmas trees will, they say be collected as long as they are chopped up and put in the green wheelie bin.
Alternatively say Hambleton District Council, trees can be taken to the household waste recycling centres at Sandholme Lane, Sowerby; Yafforth Road, Northallerton; Leeming Bar Industrial Estate; Stokesley Industrial Estate and Tholthorpe for composting. The sites are open from 8.30am until 4pm. They are closed every Wednesday.
- To help residents continue to recycle garden waste, Hambleton District Council say that, each household is eligible to two free degradable sacks - they are available from council offices in Northallerton, Stokesley and Easingwold and from Bedale Leisure Centre, Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre and Broadacres Housing Association, Picks Lane, Thirsk. They add that sacks can be put out for collection with the Christmas trees - or when green collections re-start.
