York Police Hunt Wanted Man in Acomb and Foxwood

Richard Sampson 131212

2:11pm 13th December 2012

York police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a wanted man.

Officers are looking for Richard James Sampson, aged 31, of Boroughbridge Road, who is wanted for recall to prison after breaching the terms of his release licence.

Richard Sampson 131212

Sampson was released from prison on 19 November 2012 but his poor behaviour since his release means he must return to custody.

It is the third time Sampson has breached the terms of this licence since his initial release from prison in November 2009.

He was jailed for 108 months in 2004 for three burglaries, handling stolen goods and dangerous driving.

Officers are appealing to anyone who can help them locate Sampson to get in touch as soon as possible.

He is described as white, around 6ft 2 in tall, with a medium build, green eyes and short, fair hair.

Sgt Dave Hopper, of York police, said: “We believe that Richard Sampson is somewhere in the Acomb or Foxwood area of the city and I am urging anyone who knows where he is to contact the police or Crimestoppers.

“Sampson isn’t doing himself any favours and the longer he evades the police, the worse it will get for him when we do catch up with him.”

If you know where Richard Sampson is or have any information that can help officers to find him, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for York Police.

If you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
