Warning to Pet Owners in Selby Area after Attempted Dog Theft

7:01pm 12th December 2012

Dog owners in the Selby area are being warned to not to leave their pets alone after an attempted dog theft from a garden.

Yesterday evening an attempt was made to steal a Staffordshire Bull Terrier from the front garden of a house on Selby Road in Eggborough.

The owner heard  the dog yelp and the offenders dropped the dog before driving off in a white Transit-type van with a red roof rack.

Police are asking dog owners to be vigilant and not to leave their pet alone even for short periods of time.

Officers are asking people to report any information to North Yorkshire Police on 101.
