Decision Tonight on £2.5 Million Flood Defence Scheme for Pickering

A decision will be taken later on a new flood defence scheme for Pickering, just weeks after the town was hit by flooding.
A report for Ryedale District Council says it could cost up to £2.57 million for the project which would protect against a one in 25 year flood.
The district council will decide whether to put £950,000 into the scheme at a meeting tonight.
£300,000 from North Yorkshire County Council. a local levy of £150,000 and £50,000 from the Environment Agency will also be put towards the scheme.
