Decision Day on Pay Rise for Poorest Paid York Council Staff
7:55am 4th December 2012
A decision will be taken later to give a pay rise to cleaners and dinner ladies working for City of York Council.
Almost one in five council employees could see their pay go up to £7.45 an hour as part of the Living Wage scheme.
It's designed to make sure all workers earn enough to pay for life's essentials.
Pauline Stutchfield from the City of York Council says the cost of living has increased.
If it's agreed it'll come into force on the 1st April next year.
