A new body's being set up to promote York patients rights in the health service.
It's been announced today the York Council for Voluntary Service will be in charge of HealthWatch which starts in April.
The body wants to create a group of volunteers who will help shape the future of NHS services in the city.
York CVS Chief Executive Angela Portz said:
‘I am delighted that York CVS has been selected by City of York Council, via a competitive tendering process, to deliver HealthWatch York. This is the culmination of many months of hard work and discussions with partner organisations in York.
‘Our model for delivering HealthWatch is based on having a strong network of HealthWatch Partners; voluntary, statutory and private organisations who share an interest in the health and wellbeing of the residents of York.
‘A key element of HealthWatch will be our ‘Healthchangers’; an army of volunteers who want to make a difference on how health and social care services are designed and delivered in the city.’
HealthWatch York will have a setting up phase from December 2012 to March 2013, with a formal launch in April 2013, and York CVS plans to recruit a HealthWatch York Manager. For initial enquiries about HealthWatch York, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
