York Floods - Drivers Warned to Take Care

Flood York 2 2711112

6:18pm 28th November 2012

North Yorkshire police are warning motorists to take care on the regions roads tonight.

Many roads are still affected by flood water and a further hazard to drivers may develop as temperatures begin to fall.

Earlier this afternoon one motorist was caught out when his car became trapped in flood water.

He had to be helped by fire and rescue workers.

Malton is still being affected by the floods this evening... there is a pump in place there that is helping to drop flood levels  but the River Derwent remains high.

In York things have been improving throughout the day.

The emergency team overseeing the flooding in has been stood down.

Staff at Streamline Taxi's in York are one firm in the city that's had to cope with more flooding, after suffering in September.

They've been flooded out four times in 15 years and say they are used to them now.

York Dungeon has been hit by the floods again. It also suffered severe damage in September.

But despite the fresh flood waters the manager there Helen Douglas says it's not as bad as last time.
