Latest Flood Information For York and North Yorkshire

Flood York 1 2711112

3:25pm 27th November 2012

The Environment Agency is reporting that the current level of the River Ouse is 4.4m. It is forecast to reach a peak of between 4.6 and 4.8m in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The City of York Council is reporting that all defences owned by City of York, Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water are in place for these levels. In particular Yorkshire Water confirmed that, apart from a small leakage at one location, which is being dealt with, the Leeman Raod sewer system is working correctly.

City of York Council says that they are sharing information about the road closures with major employers around the city, including the Universities, to give people as much advance notice of potential delays in homeward travel and enable alternative arrangements to be made.

In accordance with the council’s sandbag policy, City of York Council says where resources allow they will deliver sandbags to individual properties where they are immediately at risk of flooding to the living accommodation of their property. Requests should be directed through the normal Customer Contact number and after 7pm they will be routed to the Night Service Operator at Hazel Court.
