Concerns Grow over Malton Flooding as Firefighters Called Out Across North Yorkshire
9:23am 27th November 2012
Drivers are being urged not to drive through flood hit roads as North Yorkshire continues to battle with the wet conditions.
It comes as concerns grow in Malton this morning about flooding. Firefighters were called out to Chandlers Wharf on Castlegate in Malton and asked for sandbags to be given out. At the moment, water is not entering properties but they are monitoring the situation.
Old Malton councillor Martin Dales says drivers coming through the streets are causing waves which makes it harder for local people to defend their homes.
He sent Minster FM these photos of the scene at Old Malton this morning:
Overnight, firefighters were called out to pump out a house in Park Street in Pickering where water was entering a cellar. They also pumped out a house at Battle Court in Mill Lane in Boroughbridge and two homes in Northallerton.
Fire crews were also called out to Saxton near Tadcaster to give advice to local people worried about flooding.
