The idea to give shoppers an incentive to come to Malton on a Sunday has come from a group of traders.
They believe that the town has more to offer than nearby retail parks and Sunday is the perfect day to do some Christmas shopping.
Maltonoply’s organisers say the idea is to encourages people to spend 20 pounds in five different shops over the Sundays in December in order to be in with a chance to win a hamper of local goods and produce worth over one thousand pounds.
They add that you can pick up a Maltonopoly card in any of the participating shops, saying it is only purchases you make on any of the Sundays in December that count.
All participating shops have donated something from their business into the hamper say the organisers. Adding that customers could win a meal for two, with wine, at the New Malton, or Bed and Breakfast at the Talbot Hotel, as well as other prizes.
Maltonopoly is the brain-child of Rob Wormall of the Talbot Hotel.
Rob says, "There is a diverse and growing range of businesses in Malton. We don’t want to keep this to ourselves; we want to encourage more shoppers to come and discover all these retail opportunities for themselves.
“The idea of Maltonopoly is that you can do your Christmas shopping in Malton on any of the Sundays in December to take part. This doesn’t all have to happen on one Sunday. When you make purchases in any 5 of the participating stores, you simply submit your receipts as proof when entering the draw".
Sophie Legard of Malton Relish and Malton Events Group is organizing the game, she says she’ll be happy to answer any queries you may have.
Sophie tells Minster FM, "The overall aim of the game is to spend £20 in any of the shops who are part of the scheme. When you have spent £20.00 in 5 or more shops you can be entered into the prize draw. One lucky person will win everything, the value of which will be approx £1,000."
You can pick up a Maltonopoly card, says Sophie in any of the participating shops and your card and proofs of purchase can then be submitted to Rob at the Talbot Hotel or Sophie at Malton Relish. Adding; “Don’t forget, it is only purchases you make on any of the Sundays in December in the lead up to Christmas that count”.
