Pedestrian Dies near Dunnington, York

8:19am 31st October 2012
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian has died following a collision on the A166, Stamford Bridge Road near Dunnington, York
Police say the collision occurred on the York-bound carriageway just prior to the junction with Church Balk at around 5.30pm on Tuesday 30 October 2012. Adding that a man was struck by a number of vehicles and sadly died at the scene of the collision.
Traffic Sergeant Pete Wood who is investigating the collision, said: “We need to establish why the man was in the carriageway and the circumstances leading up to the collision.
“The road will have been dark and busy at around 5.15 – 5.30pm and we are appealing for anyone who saw a pedestrian in the road or at the side of the road during that time or anyone who witnessed the actual collision to contact us.
“Tragically, the man has been hit by more than one vehicle and we need to establish if there are any other motorists who may have been involved without realising. I am therefore appealing for any other motorists travelling on the A166 at the time of the collision who believes they could be involved, to also get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 0331 of 30 October or you can pass information via email to peter.wood@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
