Jamie Inglisis due to be flown home in a private plane after undergoing pioneering treatment in Germany.
Jamie, who's 7, is due to be flown from Stuttgart into Sherburn airfield, following a twitter campaign to find him some transport home.
As Jamie’s immune system is vulnerable this is the best option to protect him from picking up an infection at a busy airport or on a commercial flight. .
Sarah Jane Thompson,of the First News children’s newspaper, has offered the use of her plane, which is due to be flown by her pilot husband next Wednesday.
The trip home will provide the family much-needed respite from the treatment in hospital, and will allow the family to be together with Jamie’s sister before he has to return to Germany for the next stage of his therapy in late October.
Jamie has been nominated for a Community Pride award by the City of York Council and The Press in York and the awards take place on 18th October at the Racecourse.
Mr Inglis told Minster FM he was delighted to have secured the offer of the flight and that Jamie was looking forward to travelling home in style.
