Pedestrian Dies In A64 Crash

A pedestrian has died after a crash on the A64.

It happened at about 5.30 this morning.

North Yorkshire Police are still at the Flaxton turning where it happened.

The road has now reopened.

North Yorkshire Police Statement:

Police are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A64.

It occurred on the junction with Scotchman Lane, near Flaxton, at 5.30am on Friday 14 September 2012, and involved a man who was a pedestrian and Seat Ibiza.

The pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. We are not yet in a position to release his identity.

The A64 has been closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed until at least 10am while police examine the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
