Woman Suffers Head Injuries After Getting Hit By A Train In North Yorkshire

A woman is in a serious condition after being hit by a train near Harrogate.
The 27 year old suffered head injuries and was treated on the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
The British Transport Police is investigating what happened.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said:
“BTP officers are currently dealing with an incident at Forest Lane Crossing, (also known as Belmont Crossing) near Forest Lane in Harrogate, after receiving reports of a female being struck by a train.
“BTP and North Yorkshire officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 8.02.
“The female, a 27 year-old local woman, has suffered head injuries. She was treated at the scene by paramedics from North Yorkshire Ambulance Service and has now been taken to Harrogate Hospital.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The train involved was the 07.56 Knaresborough to Leeds Service.
“The line was handed back to Network Rail at 08.56.”
