(Updated 5:38pm 14th August 2012)
The highest court in Massachusetts has rejected the appeal of a former York University student convicted of killing his wife and baby daughter.
Neil Entwistle's lawyers argue evidence obtained during warrantless searches of the home should have been dismissed at trial.
But the court say the searches were justified because of the possibility that residents were in danger.
Entwistle is serving a life sentence for the murders in 2006.
