A man's been arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed weapon and criminal damage after an incident in Malton.
The 34-year-old is accused of threatening drivers and police officers outside flats on Wheelgate last night.
He's currently undegoing a medical assesment in police custody.
North Yorkshire Police Statement:
Police in Malton have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of affray, possession of a bladed weapon and criminal damage.
The incident, which happened at 9.25pm on Thursday 9 August 2012, occurred outside flats on Wheelgate.
The man had made threats to a number of passing motorists and then threatened the police officers who had been called to assist.
Officers had to use Pava spray and an asp baton to subdue the man before carrying out the arrest.
The man remains in police custody for questioning and medical assessment.
A police spokesman said:
“The incident was dealt with very quickly and professionally by the attending officers and no-one was harmed."
