York City Rowing Club ace, Tom Ransley, has been awarded a bronze at the Olympics.

He featured in the men's eight alongside Constantine Louloudis, Alex Partridge, James Foad, Ric Egington, Mo Sbihi, Greg Searle, Matt Langridge and cox Phelan Hill.

They clocked a time of 5 minutes and 51.18 seconds.

Germany took gold in the thrilling final this morning.

Canada pipping Team GB on the line for silver.

It was Britain's second rowing medal, after Helen Glover and Heather Stanning easily won the women's pair final.
