Three men have been arrested by armed police investigating an incident with an axe in York this morning.

York Bin Men Suspended After Wagon Incident

A group of bin men in York have been suspended following an incident on their rounds.

It happen last month (June 2012) when it's reported a wagon hit a car.

Council officials are investigating.

The group have been suspended on full pay.

Roger Ranson, assistant director of Highways Fleet and Waste, said:

"An incident took place last month involving a waste collection vehicle.

"Although details cannot be released as the investigation is still in progress, initial findings into the incident resulted in members of staff being suspended from their duties.

"Suspension is on full pay in accordance with council procedures.

"The investigation is expected to be concluded this month."
