Traffic police are appealing for witnesses after a couple were injured in a motorcycle collision at Newthorpe near South Milford.

The rider of the bike, a 54-year-old local man, and his pillion passenger a local woman both suffered fractured hips in the single-vehicle collision which occurred on the B1222 at around 12.30pm on Sunday 15 July 2012.

They were airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment, where they remain in a stable condition.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them with information.

Traffic Constable Ken England, of Tadcaster Roads Policing Group, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who can assist with our enquiries to get in touch as soon as possible.

“No other vehicles were involved in the collision but it is believed that there were other vehicles around at the time it occurred.

“If you saw what happened, please get in touch as you may have information vital to the investigation.”

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Ken England or Tadcaster Roads Policing Group.
