Man suffers a broken jaw in York assualt

A man has a broken jaw following an assault in York.
Three people were having a verbal fight in the city with two other men on swinegate last Tuesday night.
The two men then allegedly attacked the trio.
No one else was badly hurt, but police want witnesses to come forward.
2 men who were originally arrested have been released on bail.
North Yorkshire Police Statement:
York police are appealing for information following an assault in the city.
It occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday 3 July 2012, in the Swinegate/Grape Lane area when two men and a woman had a verbal altercation with two other men. They were then assaulted which resulted in a 24-year-old man from Huddersfield suffering a broken jaw. The man and woman who with him were also assaulted but did not require medical treatment.
A 35-year-old man from York and a 36-year-old man from Whitley Bay who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
Detective Constable Sarah Bullock, of York CID, said:
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault and ask them to come forward and contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
