Health and wellbeing to be improved in York

Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board first meeting open to the public.
The first meeting of the Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board that is open to the public takes place on 4 July between 4.30 - 6.30pm.
As part of the government's health reforms the Health and Wellbeing Board will become a statutory board, with full democratic accountability and decision making powers in April 2013. The Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board have been set up in advance and have started to indentify the key issues for York and to work together.
The board will consider development of a Health and Wellbeing Strategy for York, taking into account recent finding from the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
Cllr Tracey Simpson-Laing, Chair of the Board and Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Adult Social Services, said:
"The Shadow Health and Wellbeing Board will provide a leadership role to create an effective and efficient health and wellbeing system for York. It will agree the strategic priorities to take forward to improve health outcomes for the community. "
