York man charged with damaging the Lord Mayor's car

A man has been charged on suspicion of damaging the Lord Mayor's car in York.

The 41 year old from Haxby will face court on Friday accused of criminal damage and being drunk and disorderly.

North Yorkshire Police Statement:

A 41-year-old man from Haxby has been charged with criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

The charges relate to an incident in St Helen’s Square in York between 6.30pm at 7.20pm on Saturday 30 June 2012, when the Lord Mayor’s car was damaged.

He is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on Friday 20th July 2012.
