Elderly man seriously injured in York collision

Police were called to the scene of the serious collision in York in which a man in his 80s sustained serious injuries.

Officers have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision which occurred outside the York Fairfield Manor Hotel on the A19 Shipton Road in Skelton.

The incident was reported at around 3.50pm this afternoon and involved the pedestrian and a dark grey Ford Focus.

The injured man was wearing a blue top and dark coloured trousers and police are appealing for anyone who saw the man prior to the collision or witnessed the actual incident to contact them as soon as possible.

The victim was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains with serious head injuries.
