Attempted robbery in York

York police are appealing witnesses following an attempted robbery near Scarborough Bridge in the city.
It occurred just before 11pm on Monday 11 June 2012, as a 30-year-old local man was cycling underneath the bridge.
As the man rode past two men they grabbed his arms and pulled him from the bike. He managed to get away without suffering serious injuries and before the suspects stole anything.
Both men are described as white and around 6ft tall. They were wearing hooded tops with bandanas covering their faces.
An 18-year-old local man was arrested in connection with the incident in the area a short time later. He is currently in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Mandy Grundy, of York CID, said:
“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the attempted robbery or may have seen the men acting suspiciously prior to the incident. I ask them to contact York CID or Crimestoppers immediately.”
