The City of York Council has agreed that York's smallest secondary school should close.
At a meeting last night (Tuesday 15th May 2012) the cabinet agreed to a phased closure of Burnholme Community College after falling student numbers.
The council said last year only 40 students applied for a place there.
It means when the school shuts 114 students, in years 7 and 8, will be moved to neighbouring schools.
Over 170 students in years nine, 10 and 11 will continue their studies at the school.
Parents at the school have told Minster FM the fight is not over though.
They're organising 'Burnholme Sings' a week on Thursday (24th May 2012).
At 6.30pm parents, kids and those objecting to the closure will gather for an evening of song.
Teachers will also attend as they fight to keep their jobs.
