Cabinet reshuffle in York

City of York Council’s Leader, Cllr James Alexander, has today announced a Cabinet reshuffle, which will be in effect from Monday 14th May.

To make full use of all Cabinet Members’ skills, the reshuffle has boosted the prominence of tourism in the creation of the post of Culture, Leisure and Tourism, and aligns the role of Crime and StrongerCommunities with the voluntary sector and neighbourhoods, with aspirations for crime and community safety.

Cllr James Alexander, said:

“Today I announce a reshuffle of Cabinet, with Cllr Tracey Simpson-Laing remaining as the Deputy Leader and I’ve tried to boost the prominence of tourism in the new role of Leisure, Culture and Tourism. I’m sure we have strong team to deliver on the commitments we’ve made in our second year in administration.”

The new roles and responsibilities are as follows:
