East Yorkshire crash, one seriously injured

Serious RTC - A614 Shipton Lane, near Shiptonthorpe roundabout, East Yorkshire.
A man suffered serious injuries after he was involved in a collision with a lorry on the A614 Shipton Lane, one mile west of Shiptonthorpe Roundabout in East Yorkshire at 0240hrs on Sunday 29 April.
The 24-year-old Hull man was walking with a 23-year-old friend along a raised grass verge at the edge of the road, in the direction of traffic, heading towards Shiptonthorpe when he was struck by a lorry travelling in the same direction.
The pedestrian sustained injuries to the chest and abdomen and was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment. He was later transferred to Castle Hill Hospital and his condition is described as comfortable.
His friend was unhurt and the driver of the lorry, a 43-year-old Pocklington man, was also uninjured.
Both pedestrians were wearing dark clothing at the time and the section of road where the incident occurred was unlit.
The A614 was closed between the Shiptonthorpe and Gally Moor Roundabouts until approximately 0845hrs.
Anyone who saw the men walking prior to the collision or anyone who witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101, referring to log 111 of 29 April 2012.
