Campaigning to safeguard Police and PCSOs
1:35pm 26th April 2012
Ruth Potter, newly selected Labour candidate for Police & Crime Commissioner in York & North Yorkshire will be out with fellow Councillors in the Fulford area of York on Saturday morning.
She will be talking to residents about her aim to prevent Tory Government cuts to the number of Police on York streets.
Reduced budgets are making it difficult to maintain the levels of policing that had been achieved under the last Labour Government.
"I am very proud to have been selected by the Labour party to stand for election for this role in York & North Yorkshire.
"I am also very proud of Labour's achievements in reducing crime and disorder and increasing police numbers.
"This is all now threatened by the current Government.
"I am looking forward to supporting colleagues with their petition on Saturday and to having the opportunity to talk to local residents about their views on policing.'
