York assault victim’s condition improving

A man who was left in a coma after being seriously assaulted in York has made progress in the recovery from his injuries.
Stephen Eastwood, aged 45, of no fixed address, suffered serious head injuries when he was attacked with what police believe was a hammer on Tuesday 27th March 2012.
He has been unconscious in York District Hospital ever since but he has now been taken off his ventilator. However, despite the improvement in his condition, he still remains seriously ill.
A 25 year old woman who was arrested in connection with the incident remains on police bail.
Officers continue to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with information to get in touch on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for York CID.
