York girl's death linked to drugs

The death of a 16 year old girl in York is being linked to drugs.

A 23 year old has been arrested on suspicion of supplying them.

Police are looking at what happened in Tang Hall on Friday before an ambulance was scrambled to house.

North Yorkshire Police Statement:

At 12.30am on Friday 20th April 2012, Police were called by the Ambulance Service to a report of a critically ill 16 year old female who they had collected from an address in the Tang Hall area of the City.

Sadly this young girl passed away despite the efforts of hospital staff who tried to resuscitate her.

As a result of this incident Police have instigated detailed enquiries into the cause of her death.

A 23-year-old man from York has been arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug. He remains in custody for questioning.

Police enquiries are continuing.
