Unemployment drop in Yorkshire

11:24am 18th April 2012

Unemployment has fallen across Yorkshire.

We've seen a drop of nearly 8% across the region.

270,000 of us were out of work in the last set of figures, now more than 20 thousand have gone back to work.

Total unemployment in Yorkshire now stands at 248,000.

Nationally we're seeing the same trend with unemployment falling by 35,000 in the three months to February.

It's the first time in almost a year unemployment has fallen.

2.65 million people are now out of work across the UK, but the number claiming Jobseeker's Allowance rose slightly.

Employment minister Chris Grayling admits more needs to be done.
