New attempts today to stop people dying from strokes in York.
Dr Mike Knapton is from the British Heart Foundation and spoke to Minster FM ahead of a new awareness campaign. He says new stats show nearly 75% of people in our region have never checked their pulse - which could detect a hidden risk of a stroke.
They've now launched a dedicated phone line for people to listen to regular and irregular heartbeats -the number is 0300 333 2 333.
