Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Deighton.

It occurred at approximately 8.25pm Wednesday 4 April 2012, on the A19 near the White Swan public house. The collision involved a 19-year-old woman, who had just got off an Arriva bus which was travelling towards Selby, and blue Range Rover heading towards York.

As a result of the collision the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

We are not yet in a position to release her identity.

Traffic Constable Paul Stamp, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said:

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision and ask them to contact the police as a matter of urgency. I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen either the Range Rover or was a passenger on the bus, prior to the collision.”

Anyone who can help the police with this enquiry is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101. Press option 2 and ask for Paul Stamp.
