Elderly cyclist injured in York collision

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Heworth, York.
The collision involving a Toyota Yaris and an elderly cyclist occurred at around 1.50pm on Thursday 15 March 2012 near the Post Office on East Parade.
The cyclist, an 82-year-old local woman who was riding a turquoise bike had joined East Parade from Bull Lane just prior to the collision.
She suffered a head injury in the incident and was taken to York District Hospital for treatment.
The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information.
Traffic Sergeant Julian Pearson, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:
“I am urging anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.
“I would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision itself or the Toyota Yaris, which had a followed a large vehicle down East Parade from the direction of Melrosegate, prior to the collision.
“Any information could be vital to the investigation.”
Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Traffic Constable Paul Stamp, quoting reference number NYP-15032012-0265.
