Local man dies after being struck by a train near York

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:
“BTP officers were called to the line close to Ploughman’s Close, Copmanthorpe, York, on Wednesday, 29 February following a report of a man being struck by a train.
“BTP and North Yorkshire Police officers attended the incident which was reported to police at 8.50am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended the incident but the man, believed to be 36-years-old and from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene."
The train involved was the 6.30am Birmingham to Newcastle service.
The line was handed back to Network Rail at 12.02pm.
