Cyclist dies near Richmond

North Yorkshire Police were called at 7.42 Thursday 26 January 2012 after a cyclist appeared to fall off his bike on Gatherley Road in Catterick Bridge near Richmond.
Members of the public came to the man's assistance but sadly he died at the scene of the incident.
At this stage it is unclear what caused the man to fall from his cycle and how he died.
A post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of his death.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the cyclist prior to the incident or saw him fall from his bike, to contact them.
He was travelling from Catterick Bridge towards the traffic lights at the junction of Gatherley Road and the B6271.
He was riding a blue and white cycle and was wearing a yellow high-visibility jacket.
Traffic Sergeant Claire Sawyer who is investigating the incident, said:
"To assist our investigation and help piece together the circumstances which led to the incident, I would like anyone who saw the cyclist on Gatherley Road at around 7.30 to 7.40 this morning to contact us if they have not already done so."
