Graffiti's art not vandalism
12:00am 21st January 2012
A new exhibition in Bridlington is trying to show people that graffiti is art rather than vandalism.
The Funk Doctors, a graffiti art-based company who have been creating graffiti-art for a number of years, will be exhibiting at the venue.
Some of the members are from York, like Copmanthorpe based Thomas Sledmore, a.k.a Stig, who created this:
The site at The Spa Bridlington provides a contemporary setting for the hanging of their work.
Graffiti art can be associated with controversy and the aim of the exhibition is to show the general public that graffiti is an art form in its own right and can be put across in a positive way.
There will be graffiti writers from across Yorkshire exhibiting at the event, who will be displaying a range of different styles.
The event has generated interest nationwide and is unique, as graffiti art is rarely displayed in galleries.
The exhibition's taking place from the 16th-29th January.
