Parents are to lose the right to withdraw their child from sex education classes when the youngster reaches 15.
The move, announced by the Yorkshire MP and Schools Secretary Ed Balls, means all teenagers will receive at least a year's worth of lessons before the age of consent.
Mr Balls has also confirmed faith schools won't be able to opt out of any part of the new statutory curriculum.
