Traffic chaos on Yorkshire's roads

Motorists are advised that the A1 will be closed in both directions near to Junction 44 until late afternoon, following an accident earlier today.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said "We're aiming to reopen the road at 6pm."
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which occured 1 mile north of Junction 44 at around 6.20am today (16/12/11).
A HGV was travelling on the soutbound carriageway when it swerved to avoid some debris in the road.
The HGV overturned, colliding with the central reservation and shedding its load of cardboard across both carriageways.
As a result of the collision, a Jaguar and a Ford Focus were also involved in collisions.
Four men have been taken to hospitals in the local area.
The driver of the Ford Focus sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries while the remaining three men suffered minor injuries.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact the Southern Roads Policing Unit on the non-emergency number, 101.

West Yorkshire following road traffic collision
The Highways Agency is advising drivers that the A1(M) is closed in both directions between junctions 45 and 44 at Bramham in West Yorkshire and is likely to remain closed until later this evening to allow for vehicle recovery and repairs to the central reserve barrier following a serious incident earlier today. Signed diversion routes are in place, and drivers are advised to check before travelling and consider allowing more time for their journeys.
