New homeless centre opens its doors in York

York's new homeless centre is opening its doors to residents for the first time today.
20 people are moving house from the Peasholme's current site at Hungate to Fishergate.
The new building has ensuites for all rooms, a training kitchen and it room - to help the homeless move back towards independent.
By living at the Peasholme Centre people learn the lifeskills they need to move into their own home.
Head of Housing Services for City of York Council Steve Waddington says the facilities at the new site are wonderful and now puts homelessness services in the city among the best in the UK.
