Elvington crash

A man's going to court for careless driving after a pile-up earlier today (Wednesday 30th November 2011) in Elvington.

A collision, involving four vehicles, happened on the B1228 at approximately 11.25am.

The collision involved a silver Nissan Primastar van heading towards York and a black BMW 320d, a silver Rover Streetwise and a grey Toyota Avensis which were all heading in the opposite direction.

The man driving the Avensis was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary with a broken leg.

The woman driving the Streetwise was taken by road ambulance to York District Hospital.

Neither of them have suffered life threatening injuries.

The man driving the Primastar has been reported for careless driving and will appear at court when a date has been set.

As a result of the collision the road was closed for just under three hours.
