York residents carbon footprint tracked
5:52am 3rd November 2009
The average York residents' carbon footprint is above the national average - and it seems transport is to blame.
Research by the Stockholm Environment Institute at York Uni claims, cars equate to 60 percent of the problem along with housing.
Dringhouses Central had the highest levels of emissions in the city - Heslington was the best.
Gary Haq is based at York University and has done the study for the Stockholm Environment Institute.
Next week Gary will launch a scheme to boost our carbon awareness, starting with streets in Southbank and Holgate.
