A York night out led to a broken jaw

York police are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked unconscious during a night out in the city centre.
The victim a 21-year-old local man was crossing the road as he left The Graduate, on Lendal, at around 9.55pm on Saturday 8 October 2011 when he was approached from behind by another man who punched him in the face.
The blow knocked the victim out and he fell to the ground. The next day he attended York District Hospital and discovered that his jaw had been broken in two places.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time to get in touch.
Detective Constable Kendra Bamber, of York CID, said:
“This was a nasty assault which left the victim requiring surgery to repair his broken jaw.
“Saturday night was very busy in York, particularly with it being a race day, therefore it is possible that people will have seen what happened.
“I am appealing to anyone who has any information about the assault to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
