Rumour are rife about the future of North Yorkshire Police's Chief Constable.

Graham Maxwell's had a requested extension of his Fixed Term Appointment denied.

It's the North Yorkshire Police Authority who discussed the matter today (Thursday 1st September 2011)

Officials have told Minster FM, they have "every confidence" that Mr Maxwell will continue to lead the force well until his contact expires next May.

STATEMENT FROM NORTH YORKSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY

North Yorkshire Police Authority met today to consider a request from CC Maxwell for an extension of his Fixed Term Appointment.

The Authority has decided not to accede to that request.

The Authority has every confidence that CC Maxwell will continue to lead NYP well until May next year when his current FTA expires.

The detailed reasons for this decision and other matters relating to it are of a private and personal nature and therefore NYPA will make no further public comment on the matter.
