There's changes at the top of North Yorkshire Police.
The force is filling the gap left by the retirement of former Deputy Chief Constable, Adam Briggs.
It's now been revealed that Tim Madgwick will continue in his current post of Temporary Deputy Chief Constable until at least the New Year.
Our local Police Authority says, at that time "more permanent arrangements" will be made.
Tim Madgwick's promotion means Chief Superintendent Iain Spittal has been promoted to Temporary Assistant Chief Constable with responsibility for frontline policing services.
Iain joined North Yorkshire Police in September 1986.
He undertook his probationary period as a Constable on the beat in Ryedale.
After three years' service he transferred to road policing duties where he qualified as an advanced car driver and motorcyclist.
In 1994 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, in this role he undertook general policing and custody officer duties.
In April 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and transferred to take over the role of Local Area Commander at Whitby.
It was here that Iain feels he began his real journey into leadership and developing teams.
In July 2003 Iain was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and took on a new role within North Yorkshire Police as the Head of Public Access.
Following 12 months as Operational Commander on the Eastern Area of North Yorkshire he was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent taking over as the Area Commander for the City of York and Selby District in May 2005.
In December 2008 Iain transferred from York to HQ to work as Chief of Staff supporting the Chief Constable and the Strategic Leadership Team in addition to being Director of Corporate Communications.
Iain was successful in passing the senior officer selection process in September 2009, progressing on to the national Strategic Command Course in January 2010.
From November 2010 Iain led the Human Resources Directorate which included the delivery of the HR components of the recent change programme. These changes now bring the Force senior management team up to full strength.
