Crime stats down in North Yorkshire

Government figures have confirmed North Yorkshire Police is winning the fight against crime.
Home Office Stats show nationally domestic burglary rose by 3% in April to June 2009 compared with the same period the previous year.
In contrast incidents of domestic burglary decreased by 36% in our county, 237 less break-ins.
The number of recorded robberies and thefts from person also dropped by 17% and 16% percent respectively.
Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell is attributing their success to 'Operation Joypad' which saw thousands of homes checked to make sure residents had secured their property.
