Royalty come to Yorkshire

The Prince of Wales, Patron of The Yorkshire Agricultural Society, and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit The Great Yorkshire Show, Harrogate, tour the showground, meet livestock exhibitors, visitors, staff and stewards.
This will be the 153rd Great Yorkshire Show and more than 130,000 visitors are expected to come through the gates from Tuesday 12th - Thursday 14th July. Record entries across the competitive sections have already been announced with more than 2,000 sheep - more than ever before, 1,000 cattle and over 2,000 horses competing. The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall last visited the show in 2006.
Their Royal Highnesses will arrive at the showground together. They will then embark on two, short separate tours.
" HRH will view the Start exhibition followed by the Forestry section of the Show. Start, an initiative launched by The Prince of Wales, aims to inspire individuals to take simple steps towards more sustainable living. For more information click here.
" Meanwhile HerRH will view the Garden Show
TRH will then meet in the Cheese and Dairy show. This will be the 10th anniversary of the show.
" TRH will tour the Cheese and Dairy Show before entering the Food Hall
" TRH will then proceed to the Country Living Magazine Marquee and join a reception for The Prince's Countryside Fund. During the reception, HRH will make a short speech to announce the latest beneficiaries of the Fund.
" At the President's Pavilion HRH will meet representatives of two Patronages which are based on the showground: the North of England Horticultural Society and Pub is the Hub
" TRH will meet members of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society on the President's lawn
" TRH will watch a parade in the Main Ring and present the Burke Trophy for beef, the most prestigious cattle award.
TRH will then undertake separate tours.
" HRH will view the cattle lines, the sheep shearing area and the sheep lines.
" HerRH will view the horse classes taking place in the White Rose Ring.
TRH will then meet in the sheep rings and will meet models taking part in the event's Fashion Shows modelling garments made from British wool in support of the Campaign for Wool, before departing.
The Prince's Countryside Fund
Launched in July last year by HRH The Prince of Wales, The Prince's Countryside Fund (click here) www.princescountrysidefund.org.uk) is a unique collaboration of brands and businesses committed to caring for the people who take care of the countryside.
This week also marks the launch of the inaugural 'National Countryside Week' by The Prince's Countryside Fund.
During this week The Prince of Wales will undertake a range of rural visits across the country, including Devon, Cornwall and The Great Yorkshire Show, in celebration of the British countryside and the people who take care of it.
