2 stabbed in Selby domestic incident

A man and a woman are being questioned in custody after they both suffered stab wounds in a domestic-related incident on Gale Lane in York.

The incident was reported to North Yorkshire Police at 6.35pm on Saturday (9 July 2011) and involved a 44-year-old man and 51-year-old woman from the city.

Both were initially taken by ambulance to York District Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening puncture injuries. They were then arrested at the hospital and transferred into custody for questioning where they remain at this time.

A police cordon was put in place on Saturday evening to allow to allow a detailed forensic examination of the scene. The cordon has since been lifted but house-to-house enquiries are ongoing.

Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact the York Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit at Fulford Road Police Station on 0845 60 60 24 7, quoting the reference number 12110113785.
